Missing Nine Episodes 1-4 Recap

Hey friends! So I know that I posted the memes already for episodes 1&2 of Missing Nine, but it didn't feel right to recap episodes 3&4 but not 1&2 so I'm going to try for a quick recap of all four. We'll see how well I do on the quick part. The story is told going back and forth between the past and reality, so I may switch up the plot a bit just to make it easier to recap. As always you can follow along with all my Missing Nine posts here on the homepage.

Episode 1

Okay, so Missing Nine starts out by introducing us to a girl washed up on shore. We find out that she's the only found survivor so far from a plane crash carrying a group of celebrities. Meet Bong Hee. It was the first day of her first real job on her first overseas trip. She got hired as a stylist to a temperamental Joon Oh, a has-been celebrity who has hit the bottom after causing his group to split up after a number of public outbursts.  He isn't exactly kind to Bong Hee at first as he throws a fit because his agency has booked him to do a show catching octopuses in the mud, which he really doesn't want to do. He's going to fire Bong Hee, but thinks twice and takes compassion on her when he realizes how devastated she is.

So Joon Oh, Bong Hee, and Joon Oh's manager, Ki Jung board the plane along with several other important figure from the entertainment company including: the CEO & his secretary; Tae Ho- a former member of Joon Oh's band who is now the most successful and has a grudge against Joon Ho; Ji Ah- a sexy and provocative actress who is secretly dating Tae Ho; Yeol- another member of Joon Oh's band who is innocent and kind-hearted; and So-Hee a cold singer/actress who loathes Joon Oh from a past incident. There are other people aboard the plane but our story focuses on these nine.

During the flight they encounter horrible turbulence and end up crashing somewhere over the ocean. As they crash, the celebrities from the entertainment agency have flashbacks to an incident in the past where Jae Hyun, a songwriter they were all friends with, expressed he was having a difficult time and that he wanted to do. Joon Ah told him that to die then and later her jumped off a building and landed on a car in front of all of them. Most of them still blame Joon Oh for his death, but that event is the last thing most of them are thinking about before they crash.

Episode 2

We already know that Bong Hee survives this ordeal as we're seeing her remember in flashbacks in the future. An investigation team is formed to try to figure out what happened to everyone else. Bong Hee doesn't remember only that she feels strong emotions towards it and the public is dying to know what's gong on.

After the plane crashes, Bong Hee emerges in the water and also sees Joon Oh underwater, who she pulls to shore. The two don't see anyone else around. Bong Hee sets to work trying to see where they are only to find out they are on a deserted island. At first it's just the two of them as she tries to convince the temperamental Joon Oh to conserve resources and to work on getting the two of them rescued. Bong Hee catches fish, builds a lean-to, and does pretty much everything. She has hopes of being rescued as they see signs that people have been on the island before, but found no corpses. For a week they continue like this until they think they hear something in the woods one night.

There they find Yeol who has a broken arm and is in a lot of pain. They bring them back to their camp and help him get food and water. When he comes to he shares his hopelessness at the fact that he did find the corpse of the person who had wound up at the island first and thought he was completely alone. This dampens Bong Hee's spirits a bit. But while they're talking they see a light in the distance and go to find the source. While running, Bong Hee falls in a mud pit and starts to sink. Joon Oh comes to her rescue and fishes her out.

At the source of the light, they find Ji Ah who is hysterical. Ji Ah isn't alone, but has been with So Hee who has been hysterical since the crash and has already tried to kill herself. In present day, we find out that there is a prosecutor who has been investigating the crash and trying to figure out what happen. He's lead to a body that was found from among the missing nine and it turns out to be So Hee's body- his sister's. What's more is that we find out that they think that So Hee was murdered. Someone on the island killed her. He's more determined than ever to find out what happened. Also, while doing a check up on Bong Hee in the present, the doctor announces that there is no medical reason why Bong Hee shouldn't remember and it's suggested that she's just pretending not to know what happened.

Episode 3

At the beach camp we now have Bong Hee, Joon Oh, Yeol, Ji Ah, and So Hee. However, elsewhere on the island Manager Ki Joon, the CEO, and his secretary have all survived together. They are trying to decide whether it's worth trying to find the others when they happen upon Tae Ho who has also survived.

So Hee's mental state is still pretty bad. We found out that she saw someone being murdered in the woods, although we don't really know the full details yet. She tries to drown herself in the ocean and everyone jumps into the water to rescue her. Unfortunately, Ji Ah's leg gets cut and won't stop bleeding. Joon Oh reveals she's sick and it's not going to start bleeding on its own. Yeol remembers a plant his grandma once used to stop a cut that he had and so he, Bong Hee, and Joon off go to find this plant to save Ji Ah and leave So Hee to watch after her.

Manger Ki Jung realizes that he has Ji Ah's medicine and set off to try to find her, believing that she's alive and knowing she'll need her medicine if she is. The CEO, secretary, and Tae Ho also go in search of the others somewhat reluctantly. Trouble seems to strike everywhere at once. It starts to rain and storm heavily. They split up an Yeol falls into a bit and is unconscious. Joon Oh steps on a landmine and has Bong Hee go off without him. The CEO's secretary gets bit by what they think is a poisonous snake.  Bong Hee encounters both the secretary and CEO right after she has found the plant she was looking for. Together, they go back to the camp.

Things look bad at the beach. So Hee took some supplies and took off and the lean to is about to collapse on Ji Ah. Ki Joon happens upon Joon Oh while wandering through the woods. He starts to help him with the landmine fiasco and tells him it's an old mine and there's a 70% chance it won't explode, but when Joon Oh realizes he has Ji Ah's medicines, tells him to go find her on the beach. The lean to starts to collapse, but then Soon Hee is there to stop it in the knick of time. The CEO, his secretary, and Bong Hee show up just then. Bong Hee applies the plant to Ji Ah's wound and by this time they've realized the snake that bit the secretary was not poisonous. Ki Joon shows up and gives Ji Ah her medicine and takes over nursing her.

Episode 4

Bong Hee feels horrible about leaving Joon Ah in the woods and immediately goes to find him, but in doing so startles him and he falls of the landmine. Luckily it does not detonate. She cries, feeling guilty for leaving him and he hugs her to comfort her. In the distance, they hear the shouting of Yeol who awakened and is stuck in the pit. They help him out and go back to camp.

Once they're all rested and recover, they have a debate about what to do next. Joon Oh wants to go into the woods believing that since they've seen evidence of human life in the past, there's likely shelter. Tae Oh believes they should stay on the beach as it's their best chance of getting rescued. Ultimately they take a vote and opt for the woods. We also learn that it was Tae Ho that So Hee witnessed killing a man in the woods so she's especially weary of him.

There they find an old shelter that has half deteriorated and make it a kind of home. Bong Hee finds a suitcase on the beach and some floating in the water nearby. Her and Joon Oh go and fetch them all so they now how clothes to wear and some other essential belongings-even some ramen. They awake however, to find that some of the supplies have been taken. There's someone watching them.

Tae Ho and Bong Hee take the first watch over the supplies that night. And they hear someone breaking into their supply area.  Tae Ho chases after and catches the man who reveals that he knows of a lifeboat and way off the island. They just need to have four people total and that's why he's watching them. Not everyone can be saved, but some of them can. Tae Ho is intrigued by this and says he'll find the two other people to leave with.

Back in the present day, Bong Hee underwent hypnosis to try to find out who killed So Hee and she reveals a shocking fact- she did. We see a glimpse of the two of them having an argument on top of a cliff and So Hee falling. The investigative leader finds out and has to make a decision whether So Hee will be a hero or villain and that's where we're left at the end of Episode 4.

Pretty intense so far, right? Hope you'll keep watching with me.

Chingus in Dramaland: Goblin Episodes 11-13

Oops, posting this a little late. Our Chingus episode has been up for a bit now. And by the way, if you missed it our new project that's coming out is going to be a Boys over Flower rewatch which we'll be doing a drama club on DramaFever for. We're super excited for it and we'll hope you'll stay tuned. Here our some snippets from the conversation from our latest post. You can find the whole post on our Tumblr here.

Goblin Episodes 14-16 Recap

Thanks so much for being patient with me friends. It's been crazy, but GOT7 was amazing and my first Kpop concert was most definitely a success.  Let me try to refresh my memory and recap the last 3 episodes of Goblin and you can find all my Goblin related posts here on my Goblin homepage. For the last three episodes I"ll be summarizing them all together rather than breaking them up by episodes just because honestly I don't remember where one episode ends and the next starts.

When we last left off the Goblin had turned into ash and drifted into the wind, but we didn't think that was the last of him, did we? As he leaves he's erased from the memories of everyone that knew him and then we meet our characters again nine years in the future. Eun Tak is now a radio producer, just like she dreamed of becoming but suffers deeply with depression and doesn't understand why. The Goblin has spent all this time wandering a place between heaven and earth alone trying to find a way back to Eun Tak. She ends up still being friends with Sunny as well as the class president from high school. All three girls get together and talk about single life and even though there are ghosts who hang around Eun Tak she can't see them anymore.

She's on the roof of work on day when she blows out a candle and there appears the Goblin, in his full Goryeo getup. She doesn't remember him, but seeing him strikes something in her emotions and she allows him to embrace her before coming to reality and realizing that she doesn't know him. She leaves and the Goblin then comes across Duk Hwa and the new CEO, neither of whom remember him. However, Duk Hwa does know that he has a secret uncle and the CEO does know that if one day a man named Kim Shin comes to see him, he's to give him everything according to the previous CEO's will.

The Goblin goes to see the Grim Reaper, who it turns out does remember him along with everything else. He's been living his life by himself continuing on with his work and his lonely existence. He doesn't know why he didn't forget his memories too, but it turns out the ultimate supreme god thought it'd be too lonely for Shin if no one remembered him. The Goblin gets cleaned up and intentionally runs into Eun Tak a couple of times. She's getting creeped out but also can't deny that he's familiar to her. Finally he reveals his existence to Duk Hwa and CEO Kim and although they still don't remember him, they follow the previous CEO's instruction and the Goblin's previous life of unbelievable wealth is restored to him.

Eun Tak is finally impressed with the Goblin's efforts when he's able to get her radio show an endorsement from his company and she finds out he's the president. In fated timing, the postcard that Eun Tak sent herself from Canada 9 years ago arrives at the building Duk Hwa owns, that used to be occupied by SUnny's chicken cafe where Eun Tak was working at the time. The Goblin asks the reaper to bring it to Sunny to be delivered to Eun Tak.  He visits Sunny's cafe and keeps missing her an on his last attempt they pass each other in passing as he's leaving and while his look is clearly pained because he misses her, her look is inquisitive too.

Sunny delivers the postcard to Eun Tak, who is utterly confused because she doesn't have a passport and to the best of her knowledge has never been to Canada so she plans a trip there. When she gets there she encounters the Goblin who she's a little creeped out by, but she's still intrigued by him. He guides her around and they goes to dinner with him- at the restaurant where they ate at 9 years ago. The Goblin is tickled to see that the man he saw Eun Tak meeting with when he saw a glimpse of her future was actually him. Eun Tak later gets upset as she finds him at the cemetery near a grave with his picture along with the fact that he seems to know a lot about her. She asks him if he's Kim Shin, the name that she wrote down in her book that she must never forget and when she realizes he is she's even more confused.

Meanwhile, Sunny has tracked down the reaper's number from Duk Hwa, after finding his footage on her store's security system and saying she wanted to meet him because he's handsome. She acts as though she just wanted to meet him once out of curiosity but as she leaves we learn a tragic truth- Sunny never forgot her memories. She's remembered him and Eun Tak and the Goblin all along. It turns out the little boy that Eun Tak protected/defended near her store was either the supreme god or was possessed by him and nine years ago Sunny had told the little boy that she didn't want God messing with her life and that it was cruel to erase people's memories and so whether it was as a punishment or if he was just giving her what she asked for, he allowed her to keep her memories.

She had carried the burden and felt the loneliness the whole time. Eun Tak showed up to rent the apartment above hers a few years after the Goblin disappeared and Sunny was given the opportunity to become part of her life again, but carried the burden of memories alone as Eun Tak didn't remember their relationship or anything else. So even though both Sunny and the Grim Reaper remembered their relationship, they still couldn't be together because in this lifetime Sunny just couldn't forgive their past.

But take heart, back in Canada Eun Tak's memories have come flooding back to her. She frantically goes and searches for the Goblin. They find each other in front of the store they visited together in Canada all those years ago and share a steamy kiss. Saying they're happy to be reunited is an understatement and Eun Tak can't stop touching the Goblin, just to make sure he's real. They go back to Korea and once reunited resume their romance from nine years ago but times have changed, Eun Tak is older, and their relationship is more steamy than ever.

The Grim Reaper is happy to be reunited with Eun Tak as well and then realizes that the Grim Reaper that she was supposed to meet when she was 29 turns out to be him again and is a bit relieved. Duk Hwa once again finds out that Kim Shin is a Goblin and Wang Yeo is a Grim Reaper and once again is not surprised since they're both so bad at hiding it around him. Eun Tak is happy to see Sunny again, now that she's regained her memories and is grateful that they were able to have a relationship despite her memory loss. Although Sunny pretends to not know why Eun Tak is acting that way. As a side note, Eun Tak begins to see ghosts again.

Kim Shin and Eun Tak decide to make their relationship as official as they can- they're getting married. But before they have the opportunity, Sunny writes a farewell letter to Eun Tak and disappears telling her to be happy. Eun Tak realizes that she remembered everything and the Goblin explains it's because she couldn't forgive Wang Yeo that she decides to not see him again in this lifetime. The Grim Reaper and Sunny meet up on their bridge one last time to say goodbye. I can't really say much about it other than the fact that it's really sad.

The Grim Reaper meets up with the female reaper who in their past life had been feeding him the poison. He tells her to forgive herself and that the reason that they were punished and made into Grim Reapers was because they took their own life. God gave had them become grim reapers mostly so they could see how valuable life is and why it was wrong of them to take their own.

Eun Tak's aunt has been visiting her, but it turns out that she's just a ghost and Eun Tak's ghost eonni who has been hanging out since the beginning take her aunt with her and she leaves the world for good finally. Eun Tak asks the Grim Reaper if she's still in danger of being taken, but he tells her that her fate has changed and give her a beautiful bouquet for her wedding.

She and the Goblin get married in a ceremony with just the two of them in the buckwheat field where they went nine years before. They come home and celebrate with their loved ones - CEO Kim, Duk Hwa, and of course the Grim Reaper.

The next day and Grim Reaper and another reaper are sad to see that they are going to have to collect a schoolbus full of children. As they're waiting, Eun Tak drives by and waves at the reaper. Their death cards suddenly change and the one reaper is trying to figure out why. The Grim Reaper starts explaining that people's fates can change when suddenly he realizes what's going to happen. A human sacrifice is the one thing that even God can't account for since it's the human's choice to make and he instinctively knows it's going to be Eun Tak who sacrifices herself.

Sure enough, Eun Tak sees a truck rolling down a hill that's about to barrel into a bus full of school children, she realizes that if she pulls her car forward it'll hit her and save them. She's on the phone with the Goblin at the time. She's terrified, but she does it and the Goblin has to listen as it happens. The Grim Reaper arrives just after she's sacrificed herself and watches on tearfully. He greets her and brings her back to his tea house. The Goblin shows up at the tea shop and they share a horrible and tearful goodbye. The Grim Reaper has told her it's her first life, so tells the Goblin she'll come find him in her next life and to wait and she turns down the tea that will wipe her memory.

30 years have passed and the Grim Reaper has his final assignment before being allowed to pass on. It turns out to be no other than Sunny. Though she would an old woman, she appears in the Tea House young again. They both hope that they can meet up again in another life. The Goblins shows up outside the window and waves to them and then together Sunny and the Grim Reaper climb the stairs toward heaven together. The Grim Reaper is once again all alone.

Flash forward another 30 years in the future and both the Sunny and The Grim Reaper have been reincarnated and retained their old faces. She's an actress and he's a detective consulting on a movie she's filming and they start bickering, but the sparks are still there and they're in love once more. He kisses her and it's their "first official day together" after all this time.

The Goblin has moved himself back to Canada and as he's there strolling, he encounters a once again high-school aged Eun Tak at his cemetery. She speaks a simple "found you" as they stare at each other longingly and that's where our drama ends for good.

What a crazy ride Goblin has been friends. I'm glad you took this journey with  me!

Missing Nine Episodes 1-2 Memes

I was toying with the idea of recapping this drama, but I know I'm not going to have time this week. Maybe I'll give it a go next next week. In the meantime, I thought I'd at least share the memes I made for the occasion. Haha.

Hwarang Episodes 7-10 Memes

I'm not going to lie, friends. I may fail miserably to keep up with everything I need to post this week as I'm going to my first Kpop concert in Chicago in just two days. So I will do my best, but I'm sorry y'all, Got7 comes first. Although posting comes in a close second. But I'll try to get all my updated memes posted pronto. For starters. Here are my memes from episodes 7-10 of Hwarang.

Goblin Episode 13 Recap

Hello, hello, friends! It's a beautiful day in LoganLand - although not weather-wise because I pretty much live on the tundra. Other than that, the kdrama gods are shining upon us. Goblin has been a great journey, but it is wrapping up. But never fear, more exciting things are to come. I'm joined the DramaFever Drama Club for Missing Nine-so I'm excited to get back in the saddle. We hope to have a new Chingu post up soon and I'm happy to announce that we're working on a new project- a Kdrama rewatch we like to call Relive the Drama. We're aiming to start this on 1/29 and you can look for an announcement about what drama we'll be watching to come very soon. Maybe even later today.  In the meantime, let's recap Episode 13 of Goblin since we've only got one episode this week. For those curious, next week we'll see 3 episodes total. So get ready for an emotional weekend. You can catch up with all Goblin-related posts so far here on my Goblin homepage.

Our last episode left off with both the Grim Reaper and the Goblin coming to the realization that the Grim Reaper is actually Wang Yeo. Goblin shows up to confront the reaper. The two have very different reactions. The Goblin is infuriated with this news while the Grim Reaper is devastated. Eun Tak finds out about the confrontation and the Goblin takes her and together they go to stay at the passed Chairman/Duk Hwa's house. She opts to go stay with Sunny inside, knowing that she's having a hard time. They leave the house for the reaper since they know he has nowhere else to go.

Meanwhile Joong Heon has been pestering the female reaper, who it turns out played a hand in his evil workings back in the Goryeo period. He also has been lingering around Sunny and he makes it clear that he wants to kill her again in this time period

Things in the Grim Reaper's life only get more complicated as the higher ups at his "job" find out that he's been using his powers for things unrelated to being a reaper and has been sharing information that he shouldn't have. As punishment, they force him to relive all of the memories he opted to forget when he took on the punishment. He remembers his entire life as Wang Yeo from killing Shin and Sunny, to the fact that he loved and missed Sunny every second until he died, to the shocking fact that Joong Heon was poisoning Yeo and even though he knew the tonic was poison, Yeo opted to drink it eventually taking a large enough dose to end his life immediately.

The Goblin meets up with the reaper and seems like he wants to talk, but his anger is still too strong. At the same time Joong Heon shows up while Eun Tak and Sunny are together. Eun Tak steps in front of Sunny to protect her while Joong Heon lunges. Her birthmark lights up and she passes out, but it seems both women are unharmed.

The Grim Reaper meets up with one of his reaper buddies and asks him to put Joong Heon's name on the list of the dead, so that they'll have an easier time binding him. Because he's essentially living off the grid at the moment, he's been able to evade some of the rules of death, but this should make it so they can send him on permanently. He also has been watching out for Sunny and following her around. She calls him out on it finally and he is shocked to find that he remembers her. She points out that there was a flaw in her wording-he told her to only remember the happy times and she tells him that every moment she spent with him was happy - even the sad times. Sunny knows their relationship is too complicated and asks to break up for good.

Eun Tak and the Goblin take a little trip and spend some time together. They are happy, but the Goblin has come to the realization that the only way to kill Joong Heon is with the sword that is stuck in him. He tells Eun Tak to wait and summon him and goes to confront Joong Heon. Meanwhile, the most recent death notice that the Grim Reaper had for Eun Tak changes its time and date to match that moment. Goblin confront Joong Hyun briefly and then the ghost disappears.

Joong Heon reappears where Eun Tak is waiting for the Goblin on a rooftop. She can't see him anymore as the protective powers/ghost-seeing abillities of her birthmark have worn off.  Joong Heon knew that it would eventually and was waiting for his opportunity. The Goblin calls Eun Tak and tells her to summon him, just as Joong Heon has grabbed her by the throat and is holding her over the edge of the roof. But she's able to wriggle her lighter free and summon the Goblin.

He attacks Joong Heon and Eun Tak comes to the sudden realization of why Joong Heon has been targeting her - so that he can possess her and remove the Goblin's sword himself. She tries to kill herself on the Goblin's sword, but he makes it disappear. She asks the Goblin to kill her because she doesn't want to be used that way and she was already fated to die. Before either has time to do or say anything else Joong Heon does posess her and then begins to remove the sword from the Goblin.

The Grim Reaper shows up at that same moment and now that Joong Heon is on the list of the dead, he's able to call Joong Heon and force him to leave Eun Tak's body. Eun Tak passes out and shockingly, the Goblin uses her hand to pull out his sword. She comes to just as he's removed it and is horrified. He strikes down Joong Heon with his sword. Joong Heon is disappointed that's he's finished, but still satisfied that he has caused the Goblin's death. The Grim Reaper watches and beings to cry as the Goblin tells him he can finally report his death to him.  Eun Take runs and embraces the Goblin hysterically. They tell each other they love each other before he turns into embers and drifts off into the wind. And unfortunately, that is where our exceedingly sad episode of Goblin ends this week.

Hopefully something will happen that will bring the Goblin back-but we can only hope right? Until next week!
